Popular with honeymooners, the romantic isle of St Lucia is arguably one of the prettiest islands in the whole of the Caribbean. It is the sort of place people dream about visiting, a small tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. St Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, with the shape of it said to resemble a mango.
For a taste of local colour head to Castries, the capital of St Lucia. Here you will find Central Market where there is an array of stalls selling local produce and handmade crafts. You will also be able to sample the local rum and spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg.
If exciting activities are more your thing then you will not be disappointed. The islands steep coastline and lovely reefs offer excellent snorkelling and scuba diving. The rainforest preserves offer a wide array of activities including hiking and birdwatching. Also on the island there are excellent facilities for golf, tennis, sailing and a whole range of other leisure activities.
